This session focuses on how blockchain technology can enhance patient-experience, engagement, and retention in clinical trials. This will include a discussion of the potential benefits of blockchain, such as increasing transparency and security, as well as the challenges and limitations of implementation. Next, this presentation covers the implementation strategies for decentralized clinical trials to ensure end-to-end data integrity and risk mitigation purposes. This will provide insights on how blockchain technology can be used to improve the integrity of data collected during clinical trials, as well as to mitigate the risks commonly associated with centralized data management. Finally, the presentation will address ethical, governance, and self-sovereign identity benefits and drawbacks of blockchain technology. Presenters will provide identity management solutions and perspectives on individual’s wishes to gain visibility to (appropriate) data from their research participation. Overall, this presentation will offer a valuable opportunity to explore the potential of blockchain technology to enhance clinical trial processes, while also highlighting operational, regulatory, and ethical considerations that must be taken into account.
